Before any research study is uploaded into Epic, the department and/or study team is asked to assign at least one “Epic Charge Reviewer” to the study in OnCore. These reviewers are responsible for performing research billing reviews in Epic at least every 72 hours.
It is VERY important to complete these reviews in a timely manner because ALL billing for these individual study participants (including charges NOT related to the study) are being held until the research billing review is completed.
In addition, it is VERY important that the study billing reviewers receive training so that they can correctly perform these reviews, which includes comparing the charge review data in Epic with the study billing grids in Epic and OnCore.
